The following chart provides a reference for drinking water treatment unit (DWTU) standards as they apply to components and whole systems for water filtration devices. These standards differentiate between health claims and aesthetic claims. Aesthetic claims refer to the odor, taste and color of water, or any claim that is not considered a health risk. The most common aesthetic claim is chlorine reduction. A chemical, chemical element or chemical compound that poses a health risk, such as arsenic, is designated as a health claim.
