Pura UVB-2 Water Filter

Highlights 6-month-satisfaction-guaran.gif

  • Same Technology as the UVB-1 with an Additional Sediment Filter
  • The combination of Carbon Filtration and UV Disinfection Ensures Safe and Healthy Drinking Water
  • Can be Used with Private Well Water or Municipally Treated Water

The Pura UVB-2 water filter and purifier uses the same technology as the UVB-1 with the addition of a 5 micron pre-filter to filter sediments and to extend the life of the carbon filter. The combination of Carbon Filtration and Ultraviolet Disinfection system ensures safe and healthy drinking water for you and your family.

It can be used with private well or municipally treated water.

This system treats chlorine, lead, pesticides, herbicides, benzene, bad taste, odors, and cysts. UV Lamp Kills 99.99% of Bacteria, Viruses, Mold Spores, Algae, Yeast and Protozoa.

Ultraviolet disinfection is a safe, clean, easy-to-maintain method to assure water is free of bacteria. It is a proven technology that has no significant drawbacks. While the initial cost may be a bit more than chlorination, the low operating costs quickly recoups the cost. It is environmentally friendly and essentially trouble-free.

Most ultraviolet water treatment systems require only an annual change of lamp—as simple as changing a light bulb—and a periodic change of filter cartridges if the unit has accompanying filters.

Q: Can I use my own faucet with this system?

A: Yes, the system will connect directly to your cold water line under the sink.

Q: Does this system require electricity?

A: Yes, it comes with a standard 110volt plug.

Q: How often should I change the UV light?

A: Once a year. The light does not burn out, but it does need to be changed annually in order to remain effective.

Q: Does this system kill iron and sulfur bacteria?

A: No, iron and sulfur bacteria require special chlorination treatment.

Q: Will the hot water be filtered?

A: No, this system connects only to the cold water side.

Q: Will the UVB system remove iron, manganese, or sulfur?

A: No, iron, manganese, and sulfur need to be treated for at the whole house level with a backwashing system.

Q: Can this system be used for City Treated Water?

A: Yes, it will remove chlorine and provide bacteria protection.

Filtration Information:

The Pura UVB-2 system treats chlorine, lead, pesticides, herbicides, benzene, bad taste, odors, and cysts. UV Lamp Kills 99.99% of Bacteria, Viruses, Mold Spores, Algae, Yeast and Protozoa.

Filter maintenance:

Prefilter should be replaced every 3-6 months
Carbon should be replaced twice a year
UV bulb once a year
Quartz sleeve should be cleaned when changing filters, replace only if damaged or cannot be cleaned

The PURA ultraviolet systems kill bacteria and viruses up to 16,000 microwatt seconds per square centimeter, each UV bulb will need to be changed every 12 months to ensure optimal performance. The UV light will not burn out and therefore it will glow when the microwatts have fallen under 16,000 microwatts. We are happy to send our Customers e-mail reminders keeping them on track with regular maintenance. Following is a list of Bacteria, Viruses, and Yeast that will be killed with all of our PURA Ultraviolet systems:

Agrobacterium tumefaciens

CYSTS – Very Important – must choose .5 micron carbon
Cysts normally cannot be
killed with UV, but are
removed with a sub-micron
filter such as EPCB filter by
PURA.Cysts include
Giardia Llamblia and
Note that .5 micron carbons will hinder flow rates by 2-4 gpm.
