The PurHome X-5 is a High Capacity Whole Home Filtration System. It begins with an amazing 0.35 micron pre-filter for the finest filtration and crystal clear water (a human hair is about 100 - 200 micron).

Next, the water passes through NSF Certified KDF55 media, a combination of two dissimilar alloys, to remove chlorine over 99%, as well as filter heavy metals like lead, mercury, copper, nickel, chromium, and other dissolved metals, and extends the life of the carbon stage. KDF55 also provides a bacteriostatic environment.

The final stage is our high capacity catalytic centaur carbon that is designed to remove chlorine, chloramines, VOC's, SOC's, and THM's. This combined filtration provides great tasting water at every tap.x-5-x-51-cutaway.png

Most other whole home water filter systems use only carbon. Carbon is a "must" in water filtration, however, it can be a breeding ground for bacteria over time. KDF inhibits bacterial growth and can increase carbon life as much as 300%.

Chloramines in your Water? Most municipalities treat water with chlorine, but some cities are now beginning to use chloramines as a disinfectant.  It is a combination of chlorine with ammonia.  The effects of chloramines have not been widely studied yet, but it is considered no less dangerous than chlorine to your health. We now include chloramine removal media at no extra charge.  Read an article concerning allergies to chlorine.

Q: How do I know when the media inside the tank needs replacing?

A: Chlorine breaking through is a good indicator to gauge system performance and we are happy to provide chlorine test strips upon request. The rule of thumb is if chlorine is breaking through so are other contaminates.

Q: Will the PurHome X-5 remove Fluoride?

A: No, the PurHome X-5 is not designed to remove Fluoride; however the KDF55 media used in this system has shown a reduction of about 60% however that is not high enough to make removal claims. To completely remove the Fluoride we recommend a nano type of filtration. Fluoride is not harmful when bathing and therefore removing it from the drinking only is the most popular method of treatment. For “super purified” water removing virtually every organic and inorganic contaminant including the Fluoride, we recommend our Hydrotech Push Button monitoring reverse osmosis system under your kitchen sink. This is commonly paired when using a whole house specialized treatment system. We use a high quality one-piece manifold system and it comes with a water quality monitor. You will find information at this link:

However, before you remove fluoride from your drinking water, carefully weigh the positives and negatives.  It is a controversial topic, but we aim to educate you on the issues on our news.puriteam.com site.  Here is one article on fluoride you may wish to consider.

Can now drink Florida Water

8th Jan 2018

This is our 2nd X5 water filter. 1st one lasted over 10 years. We sold that home and moved. Bought our 2nd X5 we can now drink Florida water again. Awesome product.

Good water again

17th Dec 2017

My city switched from chlorine to chloramine, which gave the water and anything washed in it an awful smell. Now I can shower without the smell and my laundry doesn't smell of chemicals any more.

I can smell a huge difference.

Andy Putman on 14th Oct 2017

Just the smell of our city water would turn my stomach. With the X5 the smell is gone and our tap water is better than any bottled water. It was worth every penny.

Must have for every home.

David on 8th Jul 2013

I purchased this water filter after reading the water report from the county where I live. I never knew how much nasty stuff was in the water I drank and bathed in. You can taste the difference immediately and after 2 weeks of having this filter my children no longer need lotion after every bath. This is a must have for every home.

Worry free drinking and showeing

Chris on 5th Jul 2013

There is no price to put on having clean drinking/bathing water in our house. Our kids love the bath and shower, and it is reassuring to know that they are not being exposed to nasty chemicals every time they shower. The X5 was easy to install for our plumber, and maintenance is simple as well. Highly recommended.

Everything I hoped for.

Brad on 24th Jun 2013

I got the X5 filter because I cannot stand municipal water. After it was installed the water was simply delicious with no taste all. It was also easy to install

Works as expected and great customer service

Henry Newman on 24th Jun 2013

I am very happy with my PurHome X5. I find that our water no long has a taste in the summer when we have algea bloom. Great product and support

Clears rust, sediments and chloramine!

Mark Langan on 24th Jun 2013

Until I started using Puriteam X5 filters, the chloramine used would make my skin dry and itchy. And now, every 2-3 months when I replace the pre-filter I see all of the rust and sediment that was originally getting into my house cleared out. The taste of the water is improved and its quality is not impinged.
