A well chlorination system is often used to pre-treat for the presence of iron bacteria, sulfur bacteria, and to assist in the oxidization of sulfur, iron and manganese when at high levels. This well water chlorination system also helps oxidize tannins. This basically consists of a solution tank that holds a mixture of water and chlorine, and then a chemical feed pump is mounted on the top edge.
The chemical feed system injects a small amount of this solution into the water line prior to the pressure tank. You will need to install a plastic or metal “T” between your well pump and pressure tank. Then a simple electrical connection is wired into the well so that the chemical pump runs only when the well runs. You will need to know the voltage of your well pump.
Please note: Sulfur-reducing and iron bacteria are anaerobic bacteria which is not harmful to ingest. This well water chlorinator is not recommended to treat harmful bacteria such as e.Coli or coliform.

Where do I install the ChemTech 100?
You will need to install the ChemTech 100 prior to your pressure tank.
Does the ChemTech require electricity?
Yes, you will need to hard wire it to your well pump. This ensures that the system is only on when the water is being pumped.
Should I use this system to kill eColi and Coliform?
The best way to kill e-Coli and Coliform is with an Ultra Violet treatment system. We have several of them to choose from. Click on the the link below for more information on our UV systems.
How much chlorine is needed to kill a Sulfur Bacterial issue?
You will need to use a 3 ppm chlorine solution to kill Sulfur bacteria. We recommend that you install a test port after your pressure tank or after your retention tank. This will allow you to test the ppm and adjust accordingly.
What type of chlorine do I use?
How do I know if I need to add a retention tank prior to my current pressure tank?
If you have a pressure tank smaller than 100 gallons it is recommended that you add a retention tank. In order for the bacteria to be killed you need several hours of contact time and if your pressure tank is too small you may not get the contact time needed to kill the bacteria. We offer retention tanks in several sizes. Ask your PuriTeam team member for a size recommendation.
