1 Million Gallons of Filtration What are the unsurpassed features of the PurHome X-1000? The filtration design is like no other. We utilize the Vortech® tank that lifts the media off the bottom of the tank to maintain high flow rates. In addition, it evenly disburses the water through the media for maximum contact time and maximum filtration. And, because we use an upflow design, the water flows upward which also prevents the possibility of water channeling and prevents filter media from packing.
In addition to the Vortech® tank and upflow design, The X-1000 features the following 6 stages of filtration:
1. Sediment Filter. Pleated design provides longer life than standard sediment filter, 5 micron and washable
2. Garnet. Internal sediment filter and gravel support bed. Helps more evenly disburse water and maintain high flow rates.
3. NSF Certified KDF-55. Filters chlorine, lead and other metals and inhibits bacteria growth
4. NSF Certified Bituminous Carbon. Filters chlorine and light VOCs
5. NSF Certified Coconut Shell Carbon. Filters heavier VOCs
6. NSF Certified Carbonsorb Catalytic Carbon. Filters chloramines and chlorine by-products like THMs and HAA5s

Q: How can the PurHome X-1000 last for 10 years? A. We use a media called KDF55 in the second stage of this system that is designed to remove chlorine and heavy metals and prolongs the life of carbon by 300%. KDF55 is bacteria inhibiting which means bacteria cannot grow in its presence. The PurHome X-1000 also incorporates three different types of carbon based media’s which focus on Chloramines and VOC removal. This filtering combination provides long lasting filtration.
Q: What is KDF55 media? A: KDF55 is an electrostatic media specifically designed to remove chlorine and heavy metals. Using KDF55 with carbon eliminates the need for backwashing saving water and electricity. KDF55 is an NSF (National Science Foundation) certified water filtration media that is used in Hospitals, Restaurants, Municipal Water Treatment Facilities, and Homes across the United States.
Q: How do I know when the media inside the tank needs replacing? A: Chlorine/Chloramine breaking through is a good indicator to gauge the systems performance and we are happy to provide chlorine/chloramine test strips upon request. The rule of thumb is if chlorine is breaking through so are other contaminates.
Q: Will the PurHome X-1000 remove Fluoride?
A: No, the PurHome X-1000 is not designed to remove Fluoride; however the KDF55 media used in this system has shown a reduction of about 60% however that is not high enough to make removal claims. To completely remove the Fluoride we recommend a nano type of filtration only found in reverse osmosis systems. Fluoride is not harmful when bathing and therefore removing it from the drinking only is the most popular method of treatment. For “super purified” water removing virtually every organic and inorganic contaminant including the Fluoride, we recommend our Hydrotech Push Button monitoring reverse osmosis system under your kitchen sink. This is commonly paired when using a whole house specialized treatment system. We use a high quality one-piece manifold system and it comes with a water quality monitor. You will find information at this link:

Q: What is the tank made of?
A: We use an NSF certified Vortech tank that is made of a Poly-glass material. We provide a Chrome Jacket Sleeve that slides over the Vortech tank for appearance only, the water is held by the Vortech tank underneath the chrome jacket.
Q: What contaminates are filtered?

WOW, My ice, water and coffee taste great and my skin is not dry and scaly like it used to be before I got the whole house system. Would def recommend.

Straightforward installation and trouble-free
We installed the unit in an afternoon following the simple instructions. After soaking and flushing we turned it on and haven;t had to do a thing to it since. Water tastes great and it is working fine.
Well Worth it! We aren't supposed to be ingesting Chlorine...
(I wanted to give this about 2-3 months of use before writing a review) Pros: * Well packaged for Shipping. * Written instructions were great. * Installation by professional plumber was uneventful! (i.e good!) * We installed with 3-way shut-off. * Chlorine is now virtually zero (I measured .01 ppm(?) on a tester I bought) * PH is slightly alkaline (Good!) for water directly out of the tap. * Water feels & tastes better - my son has stopped itching after every shower. * 5 levels of filtration is great! * Generally, I'm very happy with it. Cons: * I'm not sure why you would consider PVC piping - per instructions - for drinking water? NJ code is copper, anyway. * Instruction Video on youtube needs a little updating? * only had 1 minor glitch (no funnel included with product), but had 1 handy anyhow. * 1 call to support was great help! Other: * Use a good breathing mask when pouring carbon material!!
Orange Water Becomes Clear
I purchased the X1000 about 2 years ago to help increase our water quality. Even though our vacation home is served by a municipal Lake Michigan system our water was deep orange. After installing the X1000 we enjoy crystal clear water. I change the pre-filter every 6 months and all of the orange sediment stays there. Thanks PuriTeam.
